Join me in a location to be determined somewhere in the National Capital Region for the 2014 International Towel Day Photo Event.  I will be booking all photos for the day at $42.00.  If you don't forget your towel you will get your photo shoot for free.

New Things

I've added a "My favourites" page to the Blog.  I'm going to be posting and updating it with things that I find interesting.  As of this afternoon I've posted links to camera gear and some of my favourite podcasts.  I'll add categories from time to time.

Canada Army Run 2013

I've just finished uploading and tagging the 878 photos in my Canada Army Run 2013 Set on Flickr.

It took me a while to complete due to travelling for work and the fact that I tagged each photo individually with the bib numbers of the runners in the shot....time consuming.

All of the photos are going to be available to anyone who wants one for free.  You will have to e-mail me at sthielphoto@gmail.com and let me know which photos you would like.  I will send full resolution image files via e-mail to anyone who asks.

Enjoy the shots and please share as much as possible.  There are a lot of folks in this gallery and it would be nice to see them get photos of themselves in this worthwhile charity event without having to pay a commercial photographer.

Never Quit Foundation Bike Run

Scott Thiel Photography is a proud supporter of Never Quit and the Never Quit Foundation. I will be in Petawawa this weekend as the official Event Photographer for their Charity Bike Run. If you're going to be there stop by and say hi.


Portions of the proceeds from the sale of event prints will be donated back to the foundation. Details on how to get prints will be made available in the next few days.

Travellers

I've had some opportunity to get much needed lens time this weekend.  I watched the Changing of the Guard on Parliament Hill for the first time since moving to Ottawa last summer.  I also took in some of the activities at Buskerfest and had a nice walk around the canal and locks.

I'm sharing just a few of the photos that I took yesterday.  Please enjoy.

I guess that I should likely introduce myself and my business.

I began shooting photos back in 1994.  I estimate '94 because I can't remember if I bought my first camera in '93 or '94.  It wasn't later than that.  I know that for sure.

My first camera, I believe, was a really early version of the Canon Rebel.  It might have even been an EOS Elan.  That was a long time ago and I really didn't pay much attention to my gear back then.  The only thing that I knew at the time was that I really enjoyed taking pictures.  That camera lasted me a couple of years until I grew bored with its lack of features.

First Post

This entire blog thing has been a bit of a laborious process for me.  I always have the best intentions when it comes to recording my thoughts and making some sort of attempt at sharing any tips or tricks that I may have.  It never seems to be that easy though.  There's always something else, like laundry, that is more of a priority than sitting down and putting pen to paper, so to speak.

This blog is now my second attempt at a blog for my growing passion and developing business.  I have learned a lot this past year and I figure that I had better start sharing some of my trials and tribulations so that I may help someone else who might be in this same situation.
